The story tells us how Frances comes to live in New York city. Frances is a brave little hound who was very sick when she was born; however, she fights through all that and makes it from New England, where she was born, to New York where she makes new friends and travels to a lot of new places. The book is just the beginning and is an insight into the life of Frances Peabody.
She is a friendly Dachshund who loves making friends wherever she goes and author April Jean draws out the dynamics of Frances and her other characters beautifully. The author herself grew up in New Bedford, MA, which is the neighboring town of the place where this beautiful children's tale begins. April spent her summer time on the island of Nantucket which she shared will be the spot for future stories.
